Okay so now it's been over a year since I posted on here. I actually forgot about it completely. I only found this blog because I was trying to work on my search engine optimization and it popped up on google. I read through all of my old posts and really wish I had kept up with it more.

Let's see, what's new since February 2010...
A lot. I moved from San Diego to Vegas and I now actually have my own office for Makeshift Apparel as of 5/16/11. I have been going to work at Forever 21 as a visual merchandiser in the morning and then to my office after until about midnight every day.
Today is the first night I didn't go in, it's exhausting! But I do love it and wish that I had time to go in today still ha ha.

I also planned and organized my first fashion show In March 2011, had a photo shoot with one of my favorite models Raquel Reed,did the THREAD trade show, and was mentioned in a few tattoo magazine articles.

I've been much more productive with my clothing line since moving to Vegas. I have A LOT of plans for the near future as well. I'm very excited about it and I'm really happy to have my office!

So it's been almost a year since I posted a blog.
Oops!

Latest excitement with Makeshift Apparel is the Java Magazine photo shoot.
I drove all the way from CA to AZ to shoot with Mykespace photographer and Yardley December
jewelry for a big spread in JAVA magazine. Unfortunately, I woke up with a terrible
migraine the day of the shoot and wasn't able to be there. Luckily the hair stylist was
able to come pick up the clothes and they still used them for the shoot, so I can't wait to
see how it turns out! Here's a behind the scenes shot of one of my dresses:

Wow, I can't believe that I have been doing Makeshift Apparel for a whole year
already! I sure have come a long way from the beginning!I've definitely learned
a lot about photo shoots, fashion shows, hair and makeup, models,promoting,
networking,etc. I can't wait for another great year and to accomplish even
more!

I have a lot of stuff going on right now!
I've got features in the AZ Republic and Overt Magazine coming out
in April. Also, my designs are going to be in the Retrogression
Fashion show in Scottsdale on April 25!

So although my Etsy shop is in vacation mode,I haven't disappeared.
I've just been busy working on a new spring/summer line that will
come out in April!

Have you ever read the quit your day job stories on Etsy? I'm so jealous of all those people who were brave enough to quit their day job and start crafting full time. I really really want to take the plunge.I mean, all day at work I'm just thinking about what I could be doing for Makeshift Apparel instead of wasting my time sitting behind a stupid desk.As soon as I start selling enough shirts steadily, I'm doing it! For reals! I can't even wait!

Really. I made my stripper friend a dress out of some T-shirts and she loves it because it's perfect to throw on over her outfit at work to go outside for a smoke break [they can't go outside without clothes on]. All of the girls there saw it and really liked it, and now they all want one! Keeping me busy, and I'm making a ton of really cute new designs.I'm calling them "smoking dresses".Of course, they are perfect for non strippers and non smokers as well =] I will post pictures after my photoshoot Saturday! Plus, I'll have a ton of other new stuff. I'm stoked!

Pool Party!

So this DJ, Jared Allen, sent me a message on Myspace asking if I wanted to set up a table at this pool party. It was at Hotel San Carlos and they have it every Sunday. So of course, I said yes. There were a ton of people there and I was pretty stoked to get my name out there. I met a lot of people who invited me to do other events and help with promotions. PLUS I got a free cheeseburger and sold two shirts. Oh and it was a blast. Enough talk, how about some pictures?

I really really really wanted these cool army green gauges, but they didn't have them in my size. So I ended up getting some bigger ones. 3/4inches to be exact. Anyways I put them in and I'm worried that they look too big for my little ears....
I guess they're not that much bigger than my old ones. It's always"just one more size" with me. Here is a terrible picture of me so you can see for yourself:

They have been eating me alive! I have five mosquito bites on my arm/hand. They're itching like a madman! UGH.

Anyways, I ended up ordering shirts from Alternative Apparel. They are so soft and comfy! Plus they fit super nice. I already screen printed a bunch of shirts and I've sewn a few things. I just need to get the pictures done and sew some more stuff and then I can post everything! The picture is what the shirts look like.I'm doing a photo shoot in the beginning of June so I'd say around June 10th the pictures will be ready to post. It seems so far away, I can't wait!

Oh, I also ordered stickers. I haven't got them yet but when I do I'm going to start sending them out with every order for free! It seems like all I can do right now is wait impatiently and sew ha ha.

PS- Mosquitoes suck!

I got a job at a screen printing shop in downtown Mesa. I got to looking through the catalogs today and was surprised to see we sell American Apparel. I don't know why everyone always wants fruit of the loom. Okay I do know, because it's cheap.

So how does this all relate to Makeshift Apparel? Oh, just that we are going to have not only womens, but mens shirts printed on American Apparel! Yes, finally guys shirts.Steven is working on a design, I'm working on ordering the shirts, and getting them printed. There will be very few to start with, these things are expensive to make! But after we sell a few we'll buy/make more. In the mean time, help us clear out the current stock so we have more room for new stuff!

My first blog!

So I decided to try something new and start a blog. I have no idea what I'm doing, really.
What do I put in here? Haha, maybe I should have thought this out before I started writing it... Here goes:

I just started my etsy store up in April and have been spending hours adding new things and promoting it as much as possible. I feel like I have been living in my own little virtual world lately. Today, I finally feel like it has been paying off! I sold six of my items to ume boutique in Utah. That makes about 13 sales within two months! I think that it's off to a good start.

I bought new supplies and fabric and plan on sewing a lot the next couple days so I can put up new stuff soon. I have a lot of great ideas for new designs! So check out my store,Makeshift Apparel. I have more stuff that needs to be gone! Also, feel free to add me on myspace.
